Here are some recommendations to avoid the end users from having to add a bunch of extra steps and clicking between forms into their processes. See the attached red-lined pictures for suggestions. We can make the out of the box work, but these would make it better for the end users:
Need an Item availability button on the Work order Forecast Item section or Add a Kitting section on the Work order from that includes this. Having to exit the Work order and go to a separate form is an extra unnecessary step.
Or
Need a Set-up for the Kitting States that allows you to select a WO state to auto-update to. Also, in the Kitting State set-up, allow the customer to make their own States. The out of the box states do not align with our business processes. We do delivery, not pick-up. A nice to have would be a “delivered to” option instead of selecting a Worker for pick-up. The way our business process works, we actually assemble a kit and pull the reserved items from their inventory location when we do that. A Post Item journals on the Work order kits form would be good to have. Another option would be to allow post journals checkbox on the Kitting States set-up.
Create a set-up section for kit states so that the journals can be posted from the kit screen or can select Work order states.
It would be a nice to have to tie the kit “Closed” status to use a work order status so that it will automatically close the kit.
This is our current approved Process for kitting:
New State - Work order is created
Ready to Plan state – Forecasting, check Item availability
Awaiting Parts state – if Items are not available
Reserve Items state – if Items are available
Items Reserved state
Ready to Schedule state
Scheduled state
To be Kitted state – Notification to the Stockroom to create a “kit”
Kit Complete state – Items are taken from the Shelf and posted to the WO, put into a “kit”
Kit Delivered – Notification to Supervisor that the kit has been delivered for execution in the field
Work order Issued – Actual start of work
Work order Complete – Actual end of work, unused Items are returned to the Stockroom. Negative line is used, we have a customization that allows us to select the Item Return reason (Extra, Wrong part)
Work order Closed
Hopefully these will be found as a value-add to the Kitting Functionality.
