Please consider the use of RFID tags in conjunction with Dynaway Mobile for Asset Management for assets where QR codes are not feasible.
Currently, Dynaway Mobile for Asset Management allows maintenance engineers to scan QR code labels on assets, providing them with relevant asset information.
For mobile devices equipped with NFC capabilities, Dynaway Mobile for Asset Management enables engineers to read RFID tags and retrieve the asset ID (e.g., as a string) on their device. However, it appears that the system does not support automatically populating the 'Asset Search Field' with this information.
Presently, when an engineer accesses Dynaway Mobile for Asset Management, selects the 'Asset Search Field,' and scans an RFID tag, the corresponding data is displayed in a separate window rather than being inputted directly into the search field.
Does Dynaway have experience integrating RFID tags with Dynaway Mobile for Asset Management? This solution would be especially valuable for assets where QR codes are unsuitable, such as those exposed to harsh conditions, like 80°C hot caustic soda washes, which render standard labels ineffective.
It is not possible to properly use NFC from a website yet. According to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_NFC_API there is an experimental API that is being worked on, but there is no support on iOS. We will not implement something that is in this experimental phase and not supported in our primary supported browsers.
